Satish Kumar, India & UK
March 26-April 7, 2026
“A nice quote from Satish, Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing.”
A former Jain monk turned peace activist, Satish Kumar walked over 8,000 miles for peace in the 1960s, from India to Washington, without money. Today, he is one of the most influential thinkers advocating for an ecological civilisation. His work connects ecology, social justice and spirituality through a unifying principle: Soil, Soul, Society. His message is clear: the ecological transition is, first and foremost, a transition of consciousness. Founder of Schumacher College (UK) and author of Soil, Soul, Society, Satish Kumar advocates for the emergence of an ecological civilisation rooted in interdependence, voluntary simplicity, nonviolence and inner transformation.
A leading voice in contemporary spiritual ecology, former Jain monk and heir to the Gandhian tradition, Satish Kumar will be in Paris from March 27 to April 6, 2026, to participate in the 9th edition of the ChangeNOW Summit, as well as a series of public conversations, intergenerational dialogues and podcast recordings.
Chitra Ganesh's work seen by Satish Kumar
We asked writer, activist, and founder of Schumacher College Satish Kumar to respond to the video artwork ‘Rainbow Body’ by Chitra Ganesh licensed by KADIST for its programs. For Kumar, ‘Rainbow Body’ is a profound representation of the Tantric tradition. He reflects on the union of "Tantra" (body) and "Mantra" (mind), exploring how this sacred imagery depicts the journey toward enlightenment—a state where the dualities of matter and spirit, male and female, and inner and outer worlds finally unite.
