Few filmmakers have expanded the possibilities of cinema as profoundly as Werner Herzog. Director, writer, and relentless explorer, he has spent more than five decades pushing the boundaries between documentary and fiction in pursuit of what he calls “ecstatic truth.” From Aguirre, the Wrath of God and Fitzcarraldo to Grizzly Man and Cave of Forgotten Dreams, his films explore obsession, resilience, and the sublime forces that shape the human condition.
During his time in Paris, Werner Herzog accompanied a major retrospective of his work at the Centre Pompidou and the French publication of his memoir, Every Man for Himself, and God Against All. A screening and public conversation at the Centre Pompidou welcomed 500 participants, opening a wider exchange on storytelling, imagination, and the enduring mysteries of human experience.
