Jim Jarmusch, USA

Residency Dates:
November 11-24, 2024

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration."

Filmmaker, screenwriter, musician, and producer, Jim Jarmusch is one of the defining voices of independent cinema. Since Stranger Than Paradise, his quietly radical films have transformed contemporary filmmaking through their minimalist style, understated humor, and deep affection for outsiders and wanderers. From Down by Law and Dead Man to Broken Flowers and Paterson, his work finds poetry in everyday encounters and beauty at the margins of ordinary life.

Jim Jarmusch came to Résidence Tallard following his role as guest curator of Paris Photo, joining musician Anika for a creative residency exploring new artistic directions between film and music. Together, they continued work on the score and sound world of Father Mother Sister Brother, bringing the project’s final Paris elements into focus. The residency culminated in an intimate salon with both artists.
